How to play Bari Bari Baseball.
This is a card-based baseball game. You can play all the way through using only the keyboard and speech, even if you can't see the screen.
When you start a game, you'll choose in order whether you bat first or second, whether to use a DH, how many innings to play, which team to play as, and who to put in your lineup.
Once the game starts, press Enter to advance one pitch at a time. Pressing Enter brings up six cards at the bottom of the screen; use the left/right arrow keys to choose one and Enter to confirm.
When you're batting, your cards are: fastball, breaking ball, take, bunt, other, and swing. Choosing fastball or breaking ball then asks you to pick a swing: light, normal, or full. A light swing makes contact more often but tends to produce singles; a full swing is more likely to miss but can produce extra-base hits and home runs. Guessing the same pitch type the pitcher throws makes a hit more likely. Taking means you don't swing; if the pitch is a ball, you take a ball.
When you're on defense, your cards are: fastball, breaking ball, waste pitch, intentional walk, other, and pitch. Choosing fastball or breaking ball then asks you to pick a power level from 5 to 10. A higher number makes it harder to hit, but costs that much stamina. A pitcher with a high strikeout rate can get outs even at lower power. Waste pitch can induce a swinging strike if the batter chases it. Intentional walk sends the batter to first on balls.
Each player has their own ratings. Batters have batting average, home runs, RBI, and steals. Pitchers have ERA, strikeouts, wins, saves, and stamina. Player names are drawn from city names.
During the game you can press S for the situation, C for the count, R for the runners, and O for the score at any time. Press H during the game for detailed controls.
In Settings you can change whether speech is on and how fast it reads, monochrome mode, sound effects, selection support, and font size.
